Everybody
wants to have better health, without diseases. Though peoples are
taking precautionary measures, sometimes they get and suffer from
diseases. City life has become more conjusted and unhygienic. Water
scarcity in the city is aggrevating the problem of getting pure
water. Water and air are polluted in most of the cities in India.
Industrialisation is one of major cause for pollution. Even if you
keep your house clean, surroundings will spoil your health. Society
care is lacking in our people.
In these
circumstances, Asanas help you to keep your health and mental
alertness in good condition. Our ancient Rishis forecasted the
future and formulated some Asanas, Pranayama etc. to suit the
present generation. They knew fully well that this generation will
not have enough time and sane mind to do the Asanas. Therefore they
gave the Asanas in a simplified manner to suit a common man, a house
holder, a house wife. This is the treasure we got from our
ancestors. They wrote these only from their experience.
Acharya
Patanjali - the main proprietor of yoga has instructed Ashtanga Yoga
(eight limbed Yoga) which comprises - physical, mental and vital
exercises and practices related with personal and social life of the
practitioner, e.g. "yamas" are connected with social contacts,
Niyamas with the individual life. Asanas and Pranayama are the
exercises for the purification of the physique. Dharana - Dhyana are
the exercises of the mind. Samadhi is the last objective of the
practice. Having a firm, constant practice with complete faith and
deep devotion, under the guidance of a capable yogi, the sadhaka
achieves chief end - Ultimate Reality.
In order to
attain that supreme knowledge you have to re-gather the outgoing
waves of the mind and concentrate them into your own innerself.
Everything will be revealed by itself. For that re-gathering and
concentration, the Sadhaka needs the purification of the body
(Sharira-Shuddhi) and that of the nerves(Narishodhan).
The Asanas
(a few important Physical postures) very important and practicable
by all types of practitioners. Kunjal, Neti, Dhoti etc., the
exercises for the purification of the nerves, innersystem -
digestive, respiratory and secretory etc. are clear portraits of a
Yogi. Through a few important exercises of deep breathing
(Pranayama) purification and balancing of the vital forces and mind
can be accomplished.
Yoga should
be practised by each and every individual according to their own
capacity and temperament, under the personal guidance of an
experienced yogi Guru.
Yoga can be
a guiding, inspiring force to the modern man, who searches a calm
peaceful, balanced life in the present industrialistic age.
"Sahajyoga" is one which after attaining a simple purification of
the body, speech, nerves and mind, the practitioner may concentrate
through dhyanyoga, meditating upon - the personified God or formless
supreme Brahma (according to his own taste), through Mantra Yoga,
Daya Yoga etc. for the practice of Namanusandhan (practice through
some holy sound like \(Om), Ram
etc. All these practices are advised to be practised under the
personal guidance of a capable Guru.
The yoga
(unification and communication with one's ownself) is an utmost
necessity of life. Yoga practice, if adopting which one can fulfill
one's daily duties well and following the same, attain the
perfection (the Ultimate End) of life. The practice of Yoga brings
the busy, bewildered, puzzled man to a path of stability,
worrylessness, divinity, freedom and perfection.
Yoga is the
most perfect system. The brain, the muscles, the nerves, all the
different organs and the tissues are toned up and energised. all
chronic diseases are rooted out by performing the Yogic Asanas.
Regular practice of Yogic exercises or Yoga Asanas even for fifteen
minutes a day will keep the Sadhaka quite fit and soon make them
hale and hearty. The practitioner will have abundant energy,
muscular strength and nerve power, a charming personality and will
live
long.
