Following are the important
areas to concentrate your energies for a harmonious and fulfilling
life.
Health: Your
health is key to all your riches and happiness in your life. To be
healthy means to be strong not only physically, but also
mentally and spiritually. Good health is a product of
self-discipline and control over ones body, mind and
habits.
Career: Career is what you engage yourself in for your livelihood
and survival. It can be a job, some business or professional
activity. Your career gives you an identity and status in your
society or community. It makes you rich or poor depending upon which
career you have chosen and how seriously you are involved with it.
Most of us spend the prime of our lives in pursuit of success and
happiness through our careers. Some people over do it, ignoring the
other areas in their lives and pay dearly for it in the
end.
Family: Family is where we
actually belong. We may go out and achieve enormous success. We may
win the hearts and minds of many people in society. But it is
ultimately family to which we turn when we are deeply hurt or
feel rejected or depressed. To be a part of a family is a valuable
experience. It teaches us the true values of sharing and loving, of
selflessness and true caring for
others.
Your
Finances: You must organize your finances carefully and wisely so
that when you become old and retire from active service, you will
not be at the mercy of others or some State Department.
One should learn to invest wisely, plan ones future finances
and save enough so that one can live in comfort and look after
ones needs and dependents. One may be rich or poor, may be earning a
lot of money or very little, but what is important is that one
should have a proper attitude and strategy to deal with ones
finances. One should learn to distinguish the difference
between creating wealth and earning income. Income is
what we earn. Wealth is what we create out of our income through
wise savings and investments, without denying yourself the basic
comforts of life, but without indulging in extravagance and living
beyond means. A high income does not necessarily lead to creation
of wealth. What contributes to wealth is proper strategy and
attitude towards income, expenditure and
savings.
Relationships: Relationships are
important, because they can make or mar our lives. Success is mostly
a product of relationships we develop with people in the course of
our lives. Those who are successful in their lives are aware of the
importance of relationships in their lives and careers. It is
equally important to know what relationship one has with oneself.
Happiness and contentment in life are basically products of ones
positive relationship with oneself. People who do not have proper
relationship with themselves cannot expect to have proper
relationships with others either.
Your
Thoughts: You and your reality are products of your
thoughts. You might have been created by some unseen force or
circumstance. But your life is verily your creation. Your mind is
constantly churning out thoughts and through those thoughts
manifesting reality. One should therefore pay a lot of
attention to ones thoughts and emotions. Observation and directed
awareness are the important means where by we become aware of
the thought process and the factors that contribute to such thought
process. If we know why we think in a particular manner about a
particular thing, we can then empower ourselves to change or improve
our thinking if necessary. We can consciously guide and direct
our thoughts for the outcome of a desired reality. We can become
creators of our lives through our conscious
efforts.
The Wider
World: We all are
connected to the world in which we live in some manner or the other.
What happens to the world may not immediately impact our lives, but
would definitely in course of time. Since we all live and share the
resources of the world, we must contribute to the abundance,
peace and welfare of the world in our own individual ways. It is
through little acts of kindness to others, through a little
generosity and understanding, we can reach out to others and
accomplish this. We all can develop through our efforts a very
healthy and positive attitude towards the community or the country
or the world in which we live. For that we need a proper attitude
and a caring heart.
Spiritual
life: The difference
between a spiritual person and others is that the former lives for
the sake of his soul while the latter live for sake of their bodies
and minds. We all cannot become saints overnight or lead very pious
and spiritually charged lives. But it is important to be aware
that we all have our own spiritual inclinations and
aspirations which may manifest differently in different
persons. If a person has a certain degree of sensitivity
towards himself, his inner needs and aspirations, sooner or latter
the spirit that is hidden in him expresses itself through him and
guides him towards his destiny. In truth all are spiritual beings.
But only some have developed sensitivity to their inner souls.
One may ignore his soul totally and lead a completely materialistic
life accepting this life as the only possible reality. But what a
price one may have to pay for
that! |
