4th ANUVAKA (NAMAKAM)

  1. Nama Avyadhinibhyo vividhyanti bhyaschavo namah |

Avyadhinibhyah = Capable of releasing arrows at any time and place; Vividhyanti bhyah cha = In different forms and ways the arrows can be releasing; appearing in the form of a lady; Vah = for you; Namo Namah = Again Salutation.

To the females who are capable of releasing arrows on all sides effectively To such female deities I salute.

The benefit of reciting all the Nine Mantras in the Anuvaka is that Tuberclosis, Diabetes and leprosy are controlled.

  1. Nama uganabhyastrugum hatibhyaschavo namah |

Uganabhyah cha = As the supreme matruganas; Trugamhati bhyah cha = For the terrific Devas in the form of Durga Capable of teasing them. To such of you we bow.

I prostrate Durga Devata and other other devas who are capable of charming and to these Supreme Seven matruganas.

  1. Namo gruthse bhyogrutsa pati bhyascha vonamah |

Grutsebhyah = Indulging in Sensual desires; Grutsapatibhyah cha = Leaders of the such individuals of Vices. To them our salutations.

Salutations to those who are leaders to such of the people indulging in sensual desires.

  1. Namo Vratebhyo vrata patibhyascha vo namah |

Vratebhyah = Divided into different clans; Vratapatibhyah cha = To such tribes you are the leader whom we salute.

I salute to all the heads of the different groups of societies.

  1. Namo Ganebhyo Ganapatibhyascha vo namah |

Ganebhyah = In the form of foremost group; Ganapatibhyah Cha = As the Leaders like Nandisvara and others. We salute you.

I salute to all the living figures and to their heads who are the followers of Mahadeva.

  1. Namo virupebhyo visvarupebhyaschavo namah |

Virupebhyah = With ugly forms; Visvarupebhyah cha = with different forms, and also formless, the forms encompassing the universe. To you we offer our salutations.

Prostrations to the servants who possess different forms and faces of horses, Elephants and ugly persons and naked ones.

  1. Namo mahadbhyah kshulla kebhyascha vo namah |

Mahadbhyah = possessing the eight siddhis of Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Eesita and Vasitva Kshullakebhyah = Those having eight siddhis To them we salute.

Salutations to Rudras who possess Asta siddhis and all the wealth and to the others who are deprived of the same.

  1. Namo rathibhyo rathebhyascha vo namah |

Rathibhyah = Together with chariots; Arathebhyah cha = Also without chariots; To you we salute.

Prostrations to Rudras who have ascended the chariots and to those deprived of it.

  1. Namo rathebhyah rathapatibhyascha vo namah |

Rathebhyah = Having the shape of Chariot, Rathapatibhyah cha = The riders of the Chariots, Salutations to you.

Nama ssenabhya ssenabhyascha vo namah |

Senabhyah = Possessing the forms of the four types of military equipments fighting forces, i.e. Elephants, Horses, Chariots and Infantry; Senanibhyah = Being the commander of such army, Oh! Rudra salutations to you.

Nama kshattrubhya ssangrahitrbhyascha vo namah |

Kshutrabhyah = As charioteers; Sangrahitrubhyah = As appointed incharge of the charioteers of such Rudras we salute.

Nama stakshabhyo ratha kare bhyascha vo namah |

Takshabhyah = Descending from the tribe of satkhakas; Ratha karebhyah = Belonging to the community of Charioteers, our salutations to you.

Namah Kulalebhyah karmare bhyascha vo namah |

Kulalebhyah = Persons incharge of manufacturing mud pots; Karmebhyah = professionals incharge of preparing metals like copper and brass. To you we salute.

Namah Punjistebhya Nisadebhyascha vo namah |

Punjistebhyah = Catching and holding groups of birds and making them suffer, Nisadebhyah = Catching fishes; tease them and make them suffer; Such of you we Salute.

Namah Esukrdabhyo dhanvakrdbhyascha vo namah |

Esukrudbhyah = persons incharge of manufacturing arrows; Dhanvakrudbhyah = professionals incharge of preparing bows; To them we salute;

Namo mrugayu bhyashshva nibhyascha vo namah |

Mrugayubhyah = Belonging to the tribe indulging in hunting the wild animals; shvanibhyah = holding the ropes of the hunting dogs and walking along with them. To you we Salute.

Nama shshva pati bhyascha vo namah |

Svabhyah = Assuming the form of dogs; svapatibhyah = As persons incharge of mainting the dogs, to you we salute.

The chariots and the owner of Chariotees, armies, commanders of the armies, carpenters, manufacturers of Chariots, potterers, goldsmiths, bird killers, fish men, manufacturers of arrows and bows, hunters, tieing ropes on the necks of dogs and taking them having the form and face of dogs, the owners of dogs To such Rudras we Salute.

5th ANUVAKA (NAMAKAM)

    Namo bhavayacha Rudrayacha namashsarva yacha pashupataye cha |

    Bhavayacha = The cause for the origin of the universe; Namah = Salutations; Rudrayacha = person who saves from the sorrows of the world; Namah = Prostrations; Sarvayacha = the person responsible for the dissolution of the entire universe; Namah = Salutation; Pashupataye cha = Also for the ruler of the biped and four legged living beings; To him we salutations.

    Namo Neelagreevayacha shitikantthaya cha |

    Nilagreevaya cha namah = Having swallowed the virulent poison of the snake, his oesophagus of the neck region became black. To him we salute; shitikantthayacha = Also to his white oesophagus of the neck which is white long before he engulfed the deadly poison of the snake; To him we prostrate.

    Namah kapardine cha vyuptake shaya cha |

    Kapardineca = The elongated tufted hair locked person; salutation to him; Vyuptake shaya cha Namah = with the form of hair be fitting of a sannyasi; To such person we salute.

    Namah shsahasrakshayacha shatadhanvane cha |

    Sahasrakshaya namah = with innumerable eyes; shata dhanvane namah = as one having several bows; To him we salute.

    Namo giri shayacha shipivistayacha, Namo midustamaya cesumate cha |

    Girishaya cha namah = To the dweller of Kailasa as abode; To him we salute; Shipistaya cha namah = To the form of Vishnu Salutations; Midhustamaya cha namah = We salute to Brahma his very form; Esumate cha namah = possessing the most excellent arrows. To him we salute.

    Namo hrasvaycha vama naya cha |

    Hrasvaya cha namah = Having a small sized body (the adept in dahara vidya); Vamanaya cha namah = The form of Maha Ganapathi, To him we salute.

    Namo bruhatecha varsiyase cha |

    Brihate cha namah = the very repository of Brahma; Varshiyase cha namah = the Divine form stands for truth and fulfillment. To him we salute; Vriddhaya cha = The person who is aged more than the aged, To him we Salute.

    Namo vriddhayacha samvrdhvane cha |

    Sanvridhvane cha namah = Get pleased with praises, prayers and prostrations, with great satisfaction To him we Salute.

    Namo Agriyaya cha prathamaya cha |

    Agriyaya cha namah = The one existed before the onset of creations, prathamaya cha namah = the person before the origin of Hiranya garbha. To him we salute.

    Namo Ashive capiraya cha |

    Ashave cha namah = Spread in the entire universe; Ajiraya cha namah = the perfect in skillfully moving. To him we salute.

    Namo shshreghriyayacha shibhyaya cha |

    Shrighriyaya cha namah = Present internally in the fast moving currents of waters. Salutations to him; Shibhyaya cha namah = In the deep torrential flow of waters hidden as its integral part; salutations.

    Nama urrmyaya cha vasvanyayu cha |

    Urmyaya cha namah = present under waves; Salutations to him; Avasvanyaya cha namah = Present in calm and non turbulent still and stable waters as an integral part; To him our salutations.

    Nama srotasyayacha dvipyayacha |

    Srotasyaya cha namah = Even present under the current of the speeding waters; To him salutations; Dvipyaya cha namah = present in the midst of waters on island. To him we offer our salutations.

    The person responsible for the cause and origin of living beings, Dispeller of sorrow resulting in tears, destroyer of sins, pasupati as ruler of humans steeped in ignorance, known as Neelagreeva due to the ingestion of Kalakuta poison in certain portion of the neck, and being white in other part of the neck known as Satikantha, possessor long elongated tuft of hair, in the form of a hermit having bald head, like Indra having thousand eyes, with thousand shoulders hence adorns the thousand bows, stays at Kailasa giri hence Girisha. As visnum urti as sapista and as megha rupa rains known as Mudusta, adorned with arrows, having body in small size, short statured as Vamana, having also big size body possessing abundant good qualities, big in age, being extolled through prayers and stutis (slokas), existed before the birth of universe, the prime person in the assembly, pervading every where, very effective in movement, goes speedily, present under the current of running waters known as Sidhya, present the waves of waters as urmya. Present in the still waters which sound is absent, present in the velocity of running waters; in the middle of waters, present in the islands. To such Rudra we Salute.

    This Anuvaka assures enormous riches, victory against enemies; blesses with a son equival to Rudra; protects the female from abortion; by wearing the (Raksha – sutra) the mantra thread assured of safe and secure delivery; All the graha – pida (evil effects of stars) are avoided and eliminated.
