  1. Sahasrani Sahasrashoye Rudra Adhi bhumyam |
    Tesagum sahasra yojane va dhanvani tanmasi ||

Ye Rudra = Those Rudras; Bhumyam Adhi = on the surface of the earth; Sahasrani = In countless thousands; Sahasrah = In several thousand of kinds; Tesamdhanvani = Their shafts; Sahasrayojane = To far off thousands of yojanas (distances) from us; Avatanmasi = With loosened strings of the bow placed.

  1. Asminma – hatyarnave antarikshou bhava adhi |
    Tesagum sahasra yojane va dhanvani tanmasi ||

Asmin = In this visible; Mahatyarnave = In the wondrous depths of ocean; Antariksha = In the astral world; Adhi = Those who reside; Bhavah = The Rudra groups distanced let the bows and shafts of the Rudras, from far of, be immobilized.

  1. Nilagrivah shitikantthah sharva Adhah Kshamacharah |
    Teshagam sahasra Yojane Vadhanvani tanmasi ||

Tesam Sahasra yojane Va = Those thousand yojanas; dhanvani tanmasi = The bows and arrows will be loosened and kept away far off. Nilagrivah = After having consumed the Kalakuta poison the neck became black; Shiti kanttah = Before gulping the poison it is white; Ye sarvah = which Rudras; Adhah Makshacharah = Rulers of the under world (beneath the earth).

  1. Nilagriva shiti kanttah divagam, Rudra upasritah |
    Tesagum sahasra yojane va dhanvani tanmasi ||

Nilagriva shiti kanttah, Divam = The Rudra whose neck is black and also white, such Rudras in heaven, Upashritah = persons possessing them we will loosen their string of thebow of the Rudras to the thousands of miles away.

  1. Ye vrikshesu saspinjara nilagriva vilohitah |
    Tesagum sahasra yojane va dhanvai tanmasi ||

Vrikshesu = In the trees, just as Rudras present in the world, they do exist in trees; saspinjarah = Like the tender grass possess slight yellow colour over shadowing red known as pinjara colour; nilagrivah = having black coloured necks; vilohitah = And very reddish ones sadrusa Rudras; Ye Rudrah = Which Rudras; santi = Available; Tesam dhanvani, sahasra yojane, avatanmasi = Driven away to thousands miles apart immobilizing their bows and arrows.

  1. Ye bhutana madhi patayo Vishibhasah kapardinah |
    Tesagum sahasra yojane va dhanvai tanmasi ||

Bhutanam = For the Bala grahas and other bhutaganas as leaders; Ye Adhipatayah = Those Rudra murtis; Vishikhamah = Some without tufts of hair; Kapardinah = some having elongated hair locks; Ye Rudrah = What type of Rudras; santi = present; Tesam dhanvani, sahasra yojane, avatanma = Let them be driven out to far of places, thousands miles apart along with them bows like a sieve.

  1. Ye Annesu Vividhyanti patresu pibato janan |
    Tesagum sahasra yojane va dhanvani tanmasi ||

Ye Rudras = Which Rudras; Annesu = present secretly in the food that is eaten; Janam = People; vinidhyanti = Due to the different foods creating different diseases and making them suffer; patresu = Hidden in the waters and milk we take; pibata = people who drink; Tesam dhanvani, sahasra yojane, avatanmasi = Such Rudras who are creating suffeence be thrown away to thousands of miles, lowering their strings and arrows.

This mantra has Rsi Devala; Devata, Rudra, Chanda Ansutup.

  1. Ye patham pathi rakshaya gala brudaya Vyudhah |
    Tesagum sahasra yojane va dhanvani tanmasi ||

Ye = Which Rudra murtis; Ila brudah = granting food and other benefits to the pious people; yavyudhah = Controlling the sinners; pathampathi akshayah = protectors of worldly and vaidic life; Tesagam sahasra yojane = We shall cause the strings loosened; vadhanvani tanmasi = We will make them to deposit their bows thousand of yojanas far away from us.

  1. Ye tirdhani pracaranti srukavanto Nisanginah |
    Tesagum sahasra yojane va dhanvani tanmasi ||

Ye = which Rudras; srukavantah = Holding carved knife; Nisaginah = having swords; Tirthani = In the pious sacred places; rakshitum = To help them; pracaranti = Moving; Tesam = Such Rudras; dhanvani = with their bows and arrows; sahasra yojane, avatanmi = will be thrown away thousand miles apart.

  1. Ye Eta vantascha bhuyagam sascha diso Rudra Vitasthire |
    Tesagum sahasra yojane Va dhanvani tanmasi ||

Etavantah cha = having thousand of names; Bhuyamsah = Innumerable names which cannot fit into any number of Mantras; Ye Rudrah = Which Rudras; Dishah = from all directions; Vita sthare = established and widely spread; Tesam = such Rudras; sahasra yojane = To thousands and thousands of miles away; avatanmasi = will be made to desert and deposit them.

  1. Namo Rudrebhyo ye purthivya ye ntarikshe ye divi
    Ye sha mannam vato varsha misi vastebhyo
    Dasha pracirdasa Dakishina dasha pratichi
    Darsho dichi shordhvastebhyo Namaste no
    Mrudayantu teyam dvismoya schano
    Dvestitamvo jambhe dadhami ||

Rudrebhyah = for the sake of Rudras; Namah Astu = Let them be prostrated; ye = which Rudras; Prathivyam = present on the earth; Esam = whom; Annam = Food; Esavah = the place for releasing the arrow; Tebhyah = To such Rudras; Dasha = The ten fingers of thehand; praceh = with folded hands to the East; Dasha Dakshina = All the ten fingers to the west wards saluting with folded hands; Dasha praticeeh = Also like wise on the west side; Dashodiceeh = With folded fingers and hands on the east side; Dashordhah = like wise up wards; Tebhyah = To such Rudras; Namah = Salutation; Te = Those Rudras; Nah = Our; Mridayantu = Let them make us happy; Te vayam = In this way with the mind, wordand deed we salute; yam = who ever; Dvismah = Hating; yah cha = who ever may be; Dvesti = Hating us; Tam = sch sinful enemy; He Rudra = Oh! Rudras; Vah = Belongs to your; Jambhe = In the opened month; Dadhanu = Throwing for eating.

Let not the innumerable Rudras who are incharge of the earth endanger us, let them get satisfied with our worship and prayers and do not lift their bow and arrows against us. We are keeping away their bows very far away from us. We are keeping away their bows very far away from us. In the vast visible oceans and in the skies and in the higher reaches the Rudras who are incharge of them let their bows be with out strings and are being dropped to thousands miles away.

Oh! Lord Nilagriva! By swallowing Kala Kuta (the deadly poison) of the snake your frontal neck region at the oesophagus has become black. Before that, it is white only. The Rudras who are incharge of the under world (patala loka) their bows are also being farther away and also Rudras in charge of Celestial world and Rudras in the trees with the reddish colour.

Rudras incharge of bala ganadhi bhutapatis and without hair tufts, and other with elongated tufts and also their bows are driven far away.

Those Rudra Murtis who secretly harbour in Anna (food) and responsible for different diseases through food and creating sufferance due to hatred and present in the drinking milk and water, making the people specially suffer we are throwing their bows far away.

We are also throwing the bows of Rudras who are granting food to the pious people and controlling the sinners, and protecting the worldly and as well vaidic paths of life.

We are also throwing the bows of Rudras who hold the weapon “Sruka” and possessing swords in their hands protecting the sacred waters of ganga and other rivers and patrolling them. Not only them all the innumerable Rudras who are spread in all directions. Salutations to those Rudras who reside in Bhuloka (earthly plane) and who are incharge of food and awarding sufferance, with our ten fingers with folded hands to the east, to the South, to the West and north to upwards, downwards. Let all these Rudras make us happy. We are prostrating you with mind word and Rudras make us happy. We are prostrating you with mind word and deed. (Trikarana Suddhi) Ye! Rudra swallow all my enemies who are sinners and hate us. Let them be completely destroyed by you.

Rsi Devata; Chanda Anustup, Devata Rudra.

In this Anuvaka the mantras one to four ensures capability to direct back any evil prayogas, disastrous applications on to ones own self and the nineth and tenth mantras blesses son, and the pleasure visiting the pious sacred places. The eleventh mantra in this eleventh Anuvaka ensures longevity, recollection of his ancestry, heritage and the knowledge of future.

Indispensible Supplement to Rudradhyayana Mantras

  1. Thrayambakam Yajamahe Sugadhim pusti vardhnam |
    Urvaruka miva bandhananm – rmru kshiya mamrutat ||

Thrayambakam = The three eyes Rudra; Yajamahe = We worship; Sugandhim = with divine fragrance; Pustivardhanam = Confers plentiful grace on his men; urvaruka = like a ripened cucumber; bandhanat = from its stalk; Mrutyoh mrukshiya = Implores to get released from death; Amrutat = Do not deprive from immortality.

The one with divine fragrance and grace, making me worthy of plenty, the three eyed Rudra, who releases me from death like cucumber gets rids off from its Stalk and assures me of immortality. To him I offer my salutations.

  1. Yo Rudro Agnou yo apsuya osadhisu
    Yo Rudro Visva bhuvana Vivesha tasmai Rudraya Namo Astu ||

Yo Rudrah = That Rudra; Yo Agnou = Who present in Fire; Apsu = In the waters; Osadhisu = In the medicinal herbs; Yo Visva = In the entire Universe; Bhuvana vivesha = In all the worlds; Tasmai Rudra = To that all pervading Ruda; Namo Astu = Let my Salutations reach him.

To that great Rudra who is present and pervades in fire, waters and in the entire foliage and in all the fourteen worlds salutations to him.

  1. Tamu sttuhi yah svisu sudhanva yo vishvaya kshayati bhesajasya |
    Yakshvamahe soumanasaya Rudram Namobhirdeva masuram duvasya ||

Yah = Who has; svisu = A shaft; sudhanva = A very good bow; yah = he who; Visvasya = The origin and source of all; Bhesajasya kshamati = The fountain source of all medicines; Tamvu = Him alone; Stuti = praises; Mahe sowmanaya = To obtain his favours and well wishes; Adharam = The omnipotent; Devam Rudram = The ever illuminating God Rudra; Yakshva mahe = We will worship him; Namobhih = Salutations to him; Duvasya = All Honour to him.

Let us adore, worship and salute the God Rudra who holds bow and shafts and is the source of all Vegetation and foliage and medicinal herbs, and how is the respository of illumination and omnipotent.

  1. Ayam me hasto bhagavanayam me Bhagavattarah |
    Ayam me Vishvabhesajo yagam shivabhimarshanah ||

Ayam me = This mine; Hasto = Hand; Bhagavan = Being lucky; Ayam me; Bhagavattarah = Very lucky than other hands; Shivabhimarshanah = Due to the touch with the linga of Rudra; Ayam me Vishvabhesajam = This hand is the cure for all ailments.

My right hand is very fortunate to get the contact with the image of Lord Shiva, When compared to the hands of other persons. Definitely my hand is the source of the ailments of all humans.

  1. Ye te sahasram Ayutam pasha mrityo martyayahantave |
    Tanyajnasya mayaya sarvanava yajamahe ||

Ye te = Those; Sahasram = Thousand; Ayutam = Ten thousand; pashah = nooses; Mrityo = Death in the guide of Rudra; Matyaya hantave = for the annihilation of all physical beings; Tanyajnasya mayaya = By all of them through internal and external worship; Avayajamahe = We will be liberated.

Rudra takes thousands forms in the guide of death and annihilate all living beings, we will get our selves liberated from his cluches by our internal and external worship of him.

  1. Mrityave Svaha Mrityave Svaha ||

I offer the precious food in sacrifice to Rudra the destroyer. The votary of annihilation.

  1. OM Namo Bhagavate Rudraya Vishnave mrityume pahi |

OM Namo Bhagavate Rudraya = Salutations Lord Rudra the all pervading omnipotent; Mrityuh me pahi = Save me from death.

Oh Rudra the very form of Vishnu the omnipresent, save me from death.

OM : Let peace, peace, peace prevail.
