10th ANUVAKA (NAMAKAM)

1. Drape Andha saspate daridra nnilalohita
   Eshampurushana mesampashunam marbherma rome
   Esham kichina mamat |

Drape = person awarding the worst to sinners; Andha saspate = Lord of food; Daridravat = behaves like a poor person; Nilalohita = Having half of the body in feminine form possessing black and red colour; Esham purushana = our sons and grand sons; Esham pashunam = Our cattle; mabheh = Do not create terror; Esham = Among them; Kinchina = Even one also; Marahi = Let them not be destroyed; Mo Amamat = Let not any one fall ill.

Oh! Lord who awards the worst to sinners, appears as poor, possessing black and red colour on his body, protect our sins, grand sons, and cattle. Do not create terror for them. Let not any one get disease or destroyed.

Benefit: Blesses with money power, fevers are prevented, devoid of fear due to evil applications, get rid off enmity from powerful influential groups, Drive away the fear from allliving beings, having the vision of Bhairava, getting rid off fear from dangers and disasters.

Pulatsya is Rsi, Chanda Astara Pankti and Devata is Bhairava Rudra.

2. Yate Rudrashva Tanushiva Visvaha bhesaji shiva
   Rudrasya bhesaji tayano mrhajivase |

Rudra = Oh! Rudra; Te = Belonging to you; shiva = peaceful; ya Tanih = which form; Visvapa bhesaji = Destroys diseases and poverty during all day like medicine; shiva = the peaceful; Rudrasya = you are the very form of vaidya to cure the diseases arising out of the universe; Bhesaji = you are the divine curer of the worldly diseases and destroys them; shiva = the most peaceful; Taya = with out form; Nah = us; Jivase = Let the harmonious life; Mridaya = Let that happiness be bestowed on us.

Oh! Rudra you are the repository of peace. You will destroy all diseases arising day in and day out and drives away poverty. You are the curer of all the diseases borne in this universe. Let us be granted a very peaceful, harmonious and happy life.

Benefit: Pregnancy will not be terminated in the third month, blesses with a virtuous, and brilliant son, devoid of diseases, gets nice bride, employment, Annihilation of all sins. All the four Varnas will be very harmonious towards him, get all acts fulfilled successfully as per his desire, gets new clothes, sumptuous rains, Drives away evil dreams, gets rid off bad dreams and all impending evils, gets rid off evil applications or hindrances to obtain wealth, Free from bad stars and assures peace.

3. Imagam Rudraya tavase kapardine
   kshaya dviraya prabhara mahe matim |
   yathana shamasaddvi pade chatuspade
   visvam pustam grame Asmin Anaturam ||

Yatha = By concentrating intellect; Nah = our; Dipade = our sons and grand sons; catuspade = the cattle; sham = happiness; Asat = possesses; Asmin grame = In our village; Visvam = All living beings; pustam = well nourished; Anaturam = getting health; tatha = in the same way; Tapase = power accrued due to penance; kapardine = the tufted haired Rudra; kshayadhiraya = the annihilator of enemies; Enam Matim = intellect in the service of worship and meditation; prabharamahe = In the service Rudra we are clothed with it.

We concentrate our mind and intellect in the same way to protect our progeny, all living beings, our village by ably doing so our health is well nurtured and for Rudra the tufted elongated one we pray that we constantly in to our leadr in the service of Sri Rudra. Three are four mantras ensured peace on progeny to Elephants, Horses, Camels and Cows.

4. Mridano Rudra tano maya skrudhi kshaya
   Dviraya namasa vadhemate, yadhancha
   Yoscha manuraya Sitataschayam tana Rudra Vranitow ||

Rudra = Oh! Rudra; Nah = Our; Mrida = Making us happy fulfilling our desire; Nah = for us; Mayah = Liberation; krudhi = Bestow; Kshayadhiraya = Sins being annihilated; Te = for your sake; Namasa = with salutations; Vidhema = we serve yow; Nah = for us; pita manuh = you are father and life; Tava pranitow = your benevolence; yat = which, sham cha = Also happiness and pleasures; yoh cha = Dispeller of sorrows; Ayaya = getting; Tat = that every thing; He Rudra = Oh! Bhagavan; Ashyama = Let us get it by your mercy.

Oh! Rudra, Bless us to get our desires fulfilled and make us happy and to get the eternal liberation, sins destroyed. You are our father, verylife. By your benevolence we get all pleasures and all sorrows are dispelled. Let us get your mercy and the ever lasting liberation.

5. Mano mahanta muta mano Arbhasam mana ukshanta muta mana ukshitam |
   Manovadhih pitaram Mota mataram Priya manastanuvo, Rudra ririsah ||

Mahantam = The aging phenomen; Maharirisah = By deseased state; Nah = for us; He Rudra! Oh Rudra do not trouble us; uta = And; Nah = Our; Ukshanantam = By our sperm power efficient son; Maririsah = Do not trouble him; uta = And; Nah = Our; ukshitam = son in the foetus; maririsah = Do not trouble him; uta = And; Nah = our; pitaram = father; mavadhi = Do not kill him; uta = and; Nah = our; mataram = mother; mavadhi = Do not kill her; Uta = and; Nah = our; priyah = lovable; Tanuvah = Bodies; maririsah = Do not trouble.

Oh! Rudra, Do not effect our related age, do not trouble us with diseases. Further do not trouble our children, my youthful son strengthened by my powerful sperm and the son in the womb, my father, mother, our bodies.

Benefit :- Peace to family and to all others.

6. Manastoke tanaye mana Ayusi mano gosu mano
   Ashvesu, ririsah Viranmano Rudra
   bhimato vadhirha havisyanto namasa vidhemate ||

Oh! Rudra; Bhamitah = Angered at the sight of non performance of the ordained duties; Nah = our; Toke = In the matters of our progeny; Tanaye = Particularly of male issues; Maririsah = Do not trouble us; Nah = our; Ayusu = Related to longevity; Maririsah = Do not harm us; Nah = Our; Gosu = In the matter of cows; Maririsah = Do not trouble; Nah = Our; Ashvesu = Regarding horses; maririsah = Do not harm; Nah = our; Viran = Servants; Mavadhih = Do not kill them; Te = for your sake; Havismantah = In the form of Havis and its form; namasa = with great self surrender; Vidhema = We serve you.

Oh! Rudra – Due to the non conducting of our daily ritual do not be angered on us and harm and afflict my children, particularly my male issues. Do not lower our longevity. Do not trouble our cows, horses, servants. Do not kill them. We will offer havis to you and with great veneration we are surrending and serving you.

Benefit :- Success in arbitrations begetting enormous gold, controlling absolutely all, averting death, good rains, safety in distant journeys. Blesses with son, victory against enemies.

7. Aratte goghna utapurusaghne kshaya dviraya Sumru masmete Astu | Rakshachano |
   Adhica Deva bruhya the chana Sharma yaccha dvibarhah ||

The effulgent Oh Rudra! Goghne = tremblinb our cows, uta = and; pirusaghne = Troubling of the humans; kshayadviraya = killing even the powerful strengthy persons; Te = Belonging to you; Sumnam = Dreadful form of shiva; Asme = for us; Arat = Nearer; Astu = be present; Atha = Afterwards; Nah = our; Raksha = Protect us from all sins; Adhibruhica = Tell very clearly that this fellow belongs to me; Hedvibarhah = promoter of the advanced and glorious future; nah = for us; Sarma cha = Also liberation; yacca = grant us.

Oh Rudra! The terrible, the killer of the powerful Tell in unequivocal term that I am your person, You are the promoter of advancement and future. Please grant us happiness, liberation.

Benefit:- Important being, assured longevity, and enhanced wealth.

8. Stuhishru tamgarta sadam yuvanam mriganna bhima
   mupahatnu mugram |
   Mridajaritre Rudrastavano Anyante Asmanniva pavantu senah ||

Oh! Thy self; srutam = the all pervading lord of the universel sadam = Lives in the cave of ehart; yuvanam = the ever blissful; Bhimam mrigam na = like the ferocious lion; upahatut = The killer of persons who violates Vedas and vedangas; ugram = impossible to fight against him; Stuhi = prayhim; He Rudra = Oh! Rudra; Stavanah = Having been extolled; Jaritre = We living in the perishable bodies; Mrida = make us happy; Te = for your; Senah = armies; Asmat Anyam = Leaving us but let our enemies; Nivapantu = Be destroyed.

Know they self as the form of Shiva swarupa. The parameswara is all pervading in the universe. He lives in the cave of heart. He is ever blissful. Like the ferocious lion we kill all those who violates Vedas and Vedangas. We meditate on him who cannot be fought. Please bless us happiness whose bodies are perishable. Let your armies kill our enemies and save us.

Benefit :- Destruction of enemies.

9. Parino rudrasya hetir svarnaktu paritvesa syadurmatira ghayoh |
   Avasthira maghavadbhyasta nusvam iddva stokaya tanayaya mridaya ||

Rudrasya = Belongs to Rudra, Hetih = Weapon; Nah = Us; Parivunaktu = Leave us; Aghayoh = As a means of anger to invite sin; Tvedasya = burning with anger, Durmatih = The attitude of mind to trouble; parivrnaktu = Let it be removed; He midhvah = The bestower of all desires; Sthira = The most supreme weapon of yours; Maghavadbhyah = for the sake of offering prayers and to worship you; Avatanasva = With draw it; Tokaya = for our progeny; Tanayaya = For our sons specifically; Mridaya = grant happiness.

Oh Rudra! Let him withdraw his weapon on us. Let your anger that troubles and such minds be withheld from our purview. Let your weapon we dropped so as to allow us to offer worship and prayers to you. Please grant happiness to our progeny specially our male issues.

Benefit :- Ensures principally, blessed with a son, and also capable of easy applications (prayoga)

10. Midhustama shivatama shivo na ssumana bhavah parame
    Vriksha Ayudham Nidhaya krittim vachana Achara pinakam
    bibhrada gahi ||

Middhustama = Giver of bundle of boons; shivatama = shower of auspiciousness; Nah = our; Shivah = Bestows celebrities; sumanah = Having pure heart; Bhava = Be like that; parama = Tallest; Vrikshe = The Bunyan tree; Ayudham = Your dreadful weapon; Nidhaya = place it; Achara = Come; Kruttim = Tiger skin, Vasanah = Wear it; Pinakam = Bibhrat = Adorn as ornament in your hand; Agahi = Come nearer.

Oh! Rudra – The granter and fulfiller of all desires, Shivatama more so shower of auspiciousness, the pure hearted, keep your dreadful weapon in the bunyan tree. Wear your tiger skin, hold your bow pinakam as ornament in your hand, come nearer to us.

Stops money dwindling, any harm to life, drought and checks the fear of thieves.

11. Vikirida Vilohita namaste astu bhagavah |
    Yaste Sahasragam hetayo nyamasmanniva pantu tah ||

He! Vikirida = Oh Lord who condemns sins, diseases, wordly distresses and poverty; He! Vilohitah = possessing the body with brown colour smeared with camphour; He! Bhagavah = possessor of Six gun as i.e. Bala, Virya, Teja, Isvarya, Kirti and Vairagya in equal proportions; Te = for you; Namah = Salutations; Astu = Let it be; Te = Belonging to you; Sahasram = Innumerable; Yah hetayah = whatever weapons available; Tah = Those weapons; Asmatanyam = other than your devotees; Let us be protected by you; Nivapantu = Let them be eliminated, destroyed.

Oh! Rudra the condemner of sins, disease, misery of the universe and poverty, having brown coloured skin on his body and smeared with camphour; with its gragrance; The Lord of six Isvarya gunas, having innumerable weapons protect us, your devotees and annihilate other sinners.

Benefit:- Checks the enmity from powerful persons, capable of influencing one and all.

12. Sahasrani sahasradha bahuvoistava hetayah |
    Tasamishano Bhagavah parachina mukha krudhi ||

Sahasranu = Having thousand forms; Sahasradha = In thousand numbers; Tava bahavoh = In your arms; Hetayah = The weapons you possess; Bhagavah = Oh! Lord; Tasam Mukhah = Their positions; paracinakrudhi = Turn away from us, Tvam = yourself, Esanah = The omnipotent sarvesvara.

You possess in your arms thousands and thousands of weapons. Do not direct them towards us. Kindly turn away their faces from us.
