PROCESS OF SHRI HANUMAN ADORATION 

First. The worshipper should take bath and put on neat and clean clothes, already washed. He should keep his heart freed from all ill feelings, and bind his shikha the distinctive lock of his hair. He should bear YAGYOPAVEET, the sacred thread.

Than he should place the CHAUKI, and cover it by a red cloth. After this the diety of Hanumanji and Ganeshji are to be installed, being concentrated his heart feeling in the feet of Hanumanji. Hanumanji’s Talisman should also be placed there. If it is a carved one on the copper plate or written one in the way told before. However in case of, not having in this form also, this can he painted in front of Diety by wheat flour, Roli, Handi (Turmeric) powder or Rice.

Kalash, the clay-pot filled with water, be kept before the diety and a lamp filled with Ghee should be lighted and incense sticks (Dhoopvatti, Agarvatti) should be smoked.

After this preparation the devotee is to venerate the God Ganesh, reading his hymn. Then Swashtivachan (well-being-verses), Pavitrikaran (Purification verses) and Bhootshudhi (getting free of evilspirits verses) are to be followed.

Then comes the Resolution (SANKALP). After Resolution worship procedure is to be adopted. In the end Hanuman chalisa (Verses in praise of Hanumanji) Bajrang van, Sankat Mochan, Hanuman ashtak, should be sung.

After this to conclude the worship Aarati (to circulate the lighted lamp before the Diety in a circle from left to right) should be performed. By Prada-Kshina (circulative movement about the diety from left to right) and offering the flowers the worship should be solemniged.

Note: Here are some significant-mythical verses also to worship Shri Hanumanji, to please him, to get special desired fulfilled. When Hanumanji is to be worshipped for the fulfillment of such desires, it is called spiritual endeavour or performance. Its process should be learnt from a competent Teacher (Guru) and this should be done in his direction.

Certain mythical formulas are given here, to be recited in this kind of worship.

TO BEGIN AT SHRI HANUMAN-ADORATION

Taking soft green grass, unbroken rice, flower and pure water in hand the devotee should begin to recite the following verses in praise in Ganeshji, with a concentrated mind.

THE CONTEMPLATION VERSES

Sumukhashchiaikadantashcha
           kapilo gajakarnak
Lambodarashcha vikato
           Vighnanaasho vinaayak
Dhoomrakeyturganaadyaksho
           Bhaalachandro gajaanan
Dwaadwashayi: taani naamaani ya

           Praveyshey nirgamey tathaa
Sangraamey Sankatashchayiva
           Vighna tasya na jaayatey
Shuklaambaradharan
           Deyvan shashivarn chaturabhujam

BENEDICTION VERSE (SWASTI VAACHAN)

After Ganeysh contemplation, unbroken rice and water (in meager quantity) should be dropped in the feet of the diety.

Now the Pooja of God, Lord Hanuman is to be performed by reciting the Swasti speech.

Hari: Aum swasti na Indro vridhashrawaa: swasti na: Pooshaa vishwaveydaa:|
Swasti nastaarakshyo arishtaneymi: swasti no vrihasapatirdadhaatu ||1||
Aum paya: prithivvyaampaya: oshadheeshu payo divyantariksheypayodha:|
Payaswatee: p-apradisha: santu mahyam ||2||
Aum Vishnoraraatamasi Vvishno: shneyptreystho vvishnoo: | syoorasi
vishnordhdhuvosi vyayisan vamasi vishnaveytwaa ||3||

Aum Vishwaani deyva sawitarduritaani paraasuva yadabhadra tanna aasuva ||

PURIFICATION VERSE

After making Swasti-Speech, one should sprinkle some water on his head three times, reciting the Purification Verse as follows:

Aum a-pavitra: Pavitro vaa
           Sarvaavasthaam gato-apivaa.
Ya: smareyta pundareekaasham
           Sa vaahyabhantar: shuchi.

Then he should take water in his right hand pit, to sip it. This should also be done three times. It is called Aachaman. After Aachaman, both hands must be washed by clean water.

EVIL SPIRITS ERADICATION VERSE

Then Bhoot Shudhi (Eradication of Evil spirits) should be done by reciting the following verse –

Aum apasarpantu tey bhootaa,
          Yey bhootaa bhuvi sansthitaa,
Yey bhootaa vighna kartaarastey,
          Nashyantu shivaajyayaa.

RESOLUTION

After getting free from evil spirits the devotee should resolve as follows:

Note : In the above noted resolution it should be kept in mind that in place of numbers noted in between, the worshipper shall speak, names of : (1) Hindu samvatsar, (2) Ayan, (3) Season, (4) Month, (5) Fortnight whether dark or bright, (6) Hindu date, (7) Constallation, (8) Yoga, (9) Day, (10) Signs in which sun, moon, mars, mercury, Jupiter, venus, Saturn, Dragon’s head and tail are moving at the movement, (11) family’s clan, (12) worshipping person along with the sir name eg. Sharma, Varma etc.

INVOCATION VERSE

When devotee has taken resolution, he should recite the following verse taking rice in his right hand for the invocation of Lord Hanuman.

Aavaahyaami Shree Shambho,
           Sharvvatwam Girijaapatey.
Prasannobhav Deyveysh,
           Namastubhyam hi Shankar.

After taking to resolve adoration in this way the devotee should recite the following verses taking rice in his right hand.
