
History of the
Temple in Brief
According to the
inscriptions found the temple was constructed in 1823 by Sri Govinda
Mudiliar who was working as Tahsildar in the then Nizams Government.
In 1841 Sri Arcot Rama Swamy Mudiliar has donated some land and got
dug up a big well or "Koneru" and from that date the place has come
into prominence as "Koneru Veedhi". There are several other temples
like Sri Krishna, Sri Padmavathi Andal, Alwars and Anjaneya Swamy in
the premises with Navagraha Mandapam. Necessary facilities are
available for performing the obsequies in the temple.
Importance of the
Temple
Since the temple was got
constructed by a Tamil Mudiliar, it became famous as Sri
Venkateswara Mudaliar. Perumal is a Tamil word means God. Poojas and
Sevas are performed according to the Tamil procedures and culture.
The twelve devotees of the Lord who became famous Poyyeegai Alwar,
Boodatta Alwar, Paee Alwar, Madhura Kavi, Kula Shekarudu, Peri
Alwar, Namma Alwar, Thirumangai, Thiruppana Alwar. Tiru Malishai,
Thonda Adipudi and Vaishnava Bhaktas composed several devotional
songs and propogated the importance of the Lord and principles of
virtues of life. These are also called and worshipped as "Dravida
Vedas".
